Geographical Transference: Recreating Home

This site-specific artwork in the SOMA Pilipinas Culture and Heritage District, consists of a gate and lanterns cut with textile designs from the Philippines. This work considers the desire to bring meaningful items and ideas in order to thrive in their new home. Textile references courtesy of the Global Museum at SFSU and the Asian Art Museum.
1064 Mission Street is the largest supportive housing development in the City of San Francisco, with 256 permanent supportive homes for both adults and seniors exiting chronic homelessness. The sixstory complex includes two buildings — one building with 103 homes for seniors (age 55+), another with 153 homes serving adults — with various shared facilities and gathering places for residents to enjoy. 1064 Mission Street is located in the heart of SOMA on several major bus lines for easy access to neighborhood amenities.
